on May the 17th 2018, FMAM organized visit to Fort Sant’Angelo.
This was a unique opportunity to access the most secluded areas of the Fort dominating the tip of Vittoriosa, which has always been of great importance because of its strategic position and of the role it has played throughout Maltese history, particularly during the Great Siege of 1565.
The visit was hosted by H.E. Fra John Edward Critien, who was appointed Knight Resident at Fort St. Angelo in July 2000 and elevated to the rank of Knight Grand Cross of Justice in September 2001. While enjoying panoramic views of the Grand Harbour and its surrounding fortified towns, the participants were guided by Fra John through the vast and colourful history of the Fort and its role in the shaping of Maltese national identity and we will explore the various architectural styles employed within this national monument
